Ukrainian (Pysanky) Egg Decorating

Saturday, April 610:00—11:30 AMRecreation Dept. Branch

Pysanky eggs are a Ukrainian tradition that dates back to ancient times. Since early times, pysanky eggs have been decorated to welcome spring. In this class, Ruth will share her skills and teach us how to use hot beeswax applied with a kistky funnel to draw on the egg then with succession of colorful dyes, to create a beautiful, one-of-a-kind egg.

Spaces for this program will be limited, if there is enough interest, we will provide a second class at 1pm, please register for our waitlist.  Please note, registrations will close on Saturday March 29th.   Each person registered will have the opportunity to create two eggs.

The materials fee for this event will be covered by the library.  Due to the use of electric tools and hot wax, we do not recommend this class for children under 6. Children aged 6 - 9 may participate with an adult working as a team.

Please note: This event will be held at the Sandown Recreation Building:  25 Pheasant Run Drive, Sandown.

Registration for this event has now closed.
