STEAM Explorers Program: Exploring Density with Rainbow Water Stacks

Dive into the wonders of science with our STEAM Explorers Program! This session, we’re unraveling the mysteries of density through the mesmerizing experiment of creating Rainbow Water Stacks.

Program Highlights:

Introduction to Density: Learn about the concept of density and why some liquids float on top of others. We’ll explore how density affects our everyday lives and see it in action through a fun and colorful experiment.

Hands-On Experiment: Kids will get the chance to create their own rainbow water stacks. Using different liquids like water, oil, and syrup, bleach, juice and soda along with food coloring, we'll layer them to create a vibrant, multi-colored column of liquids. Watch as the colors stack up without mixing!

Scientific Exploration: Discover the science behind the magic! We'll explain the principles of density, discuss the role of different substances, and explore how this experiment relates to real-world phenomena.

Interactive Learning: This session is designed to be interactive and engaging, encouraging kids to ask questions, make predictions, and observe the outcomes of their experiments. It’s a fantastic way to spark curiosity and foster a love for science.

Why Join? Participating in STEAM activities helps children develop critical thinking skills, encourages curiosity and exploration, and provides a foundation for understanding the world around them. Plus, it’s a great way to meet new friends and engage in hands-on learning.

Materials Provided: All materials needed for the experiment will be provided by the library. This includes various liquids, food coloring, and containers. Kids just need to bring their curiosity and excitement for discovery.
